Is there any 250W PSU available?

PSUs: The source of DC power for all components in the PC & often a big noise source.

Is there any 250W PSU available?

Post by tpe » Fri Jun 14, 2013 5:07 am

Hallo,
I plan to build a new desktop PC around a Haswell i5 CPU/GPU. According to http://www.extreme.outervision.com and with Ivy Bridge CPU (not Haswells), I will need, at most, 219W, so a 250W PSU would be just fine. But I cannot find any such PSU. Do you know any PSU around that amount of Watts that is silent too?

On standard ATX size i havent seen any new 250W that are worth considering on the noise/performance side. If i were to need 200W, i would probably just go for Seasonic 360W 80PLUS Gold ATX12V Power Supply SSR-360GP, was reviewed by SPCR and got the editor choice, Seasonic G360 PSU: High efficiency & performance, low price.

If you were to need less than 160W you could go into picoPSU combo like, picoPSU-160-XT, 160w output, 12v input DC-DC Power Supply + 192w AC-DC Power Adapter, 12v 16A
