Which Seasonic PSU to buy?

I have all of the components I need for my first ever PC build. However, I still can’t figure out which PSU to buy. I’ve decided that I want to get a Seasonic platinum series because I’ve heard that they are quite (no coil whine) and they have a good warranty. I’m choosing between either of these two:

660(SS-660XP2)
760(SS-760XP2)

Currently, I’m thinking about the 760XP2 because it’s only around $20 more more than the 660 at Newegg. I would appreciate any thoughts on these two models.

Here are the PC components I’ve purchased:

I'm sure the 760 would be a fine choice, even if it's way overpowered in reality. A fanless Platinum 460 would do fine and cost a little less, though not necessarily much less. I installed my own fanless Seasonic Platinum 460 just 12 hours ago, but I've been smiling all day. ;) No coil whine so far, then again such things tend to be a matter of concerting factors. The 760W would cover any future plans of running two graphics cards, but I'd generally advice getting a single faster card whenever the current starts to feel slow.

Your gaming load will be under 300W. So, between the 660 and 760, I'd go with the 660. Fan won't ever ramp up and it'll be more efficient at idle/low load than the 760.

The Seasonic SS-660XP2 $140 has a $15 off until 9/23 = $125, the Seasonic SS-760XP2 is selling for $165, so thats a $40 difference, and you dont need the extra 100W, so i would go with SS660XP2.

Recently bought one of the Seasonic platinum's my self and am very impressed with it, particularly the hybrid fan mode.
I would echo what others have said about getting the 660, but i would spend the money saved on changing the GPU to a quieter version of the 670, something like the Asus or Gigabyte.

Thanks for the advice. Regarding the GPU, I've already bought it so I'm not returning it.

I'll just go with the 760 and perhaps check out the new RM Corsair line.

Fyi the SS-760XP2 is on sale at newegg for $165 with a $45 off code (EMCXLWT72) and a $20 rebate which brings it to $100. This ends today.

Crud, I waited to buy it now and I don't see any sales. If anyone knows of anything, please give me a heads up. I'm leaning towards the 760 at the moment in case I want to utilize SLI in the future.

Would the Seasonic SS-660XP2 be enough wattage for the system rig I posted earlier? Would it be running around 40-60% maximum efficiency? I'm looking at grabbing the 660 tonight if I'm 100% sure the 660 can handle my components and I have room to spare.

I think this guy already answered the question. ;)

If you go SLI with two 670's, then the gaming load increases to 450W-ish. No SLI = minimal fan ramp. SLI = some fan ramp.

What hybrid mode setting should I choose for the fan though, silent or cooling mode?

I'd suggest installing it and trying both. Pick the one that's the best combination of silence and temps for you.
