Reviewed at Techpowerup. Really nice low load efficiency. Would like to see it in SPCR's anechoic chamber :)

Better still the a review of the V450S version which will presumably be more efficient at 22.5W.

Indeed this is a very interesting PSU that stands out from the pack. I can't figure out why Techpowerup stopped measuring at 40W; aren't many Haswell systems designed to idle at something like 20W these days?

I can only agree with pod03's comment: I have never seen the need for more than 300 Watts in a PSU (practically all of the consumer PSU market seems to be aimed at gamers and people who run their vacuum cleaner on an ATX PSU. Any idea why?), so I'm more likely to buy the 450W model, although obviously I would much prefer a 350W model if only there were one.

I have ordered a V450S and will review as best I can when it arrives.

V450S arrived today. Much quieter than the CWT PUFP255P taken out. More importantly for me idle dropped from about 28W to about 23W from the wall according to a Maplin killawatt equivalent. A little noise with my ear against the exhaust, principally perhaps bearing noise or some other sort of clicking/ticking noise. I can hear no significant noise from the system when I am sitting at my desk.

pod03: Would you please share your experience with that PSU after almost a year? Still happy? I'm about to buy one. :)

Yes still entirely happy - I have not heard the fan yet so unless you have extremely sensitive hearing and a very low noise floor I would go for it.

Bump. I've got a short video clip of this diesel engine-like sound my V450S makes. Thought you might be interested.
The unit is not exactly noisy but it's the loudest component in my rig along with the WD Scorpio Black 2,5". No whoosh or anything else, just this kind of sound no matter what kind of load level.

Anyone attempt to replace the fan in this with a Noctua or similar? I was thinking of adding a 120mm ULN fan to mine but I'm not sure it would give me sufficient airflow.

Cooler Master just announced the upgraded V-Series.

With the implementation of the high-performance Silencio FP fan by Cooler Master, the PSU operates quietly yet efficiently lowering fan RPM by up to 35 % even under 100 % load. 100% Japanese 105C high quality capacitors ensure an extended lifetime delivering excellent performance. Clean, stable voltages lead to less stress on valuable components extending the computer system's life and reducing instability while gaming or working. The V series come with fully modular flat ribbon cables for easy cable routing using only the cables one needs allowing users to have neater-looking installations and better case airflow.

But unfortunately they cut the 450W model from the new line. The fact that they had a really high-efficiency-at-low-loads model in the 400W price class (i.e., not much more than the Seasonic G-360 costs) made this VS-series stand out. I imagine it will be much harder for the VS-series to be successful in the higher output ratings, where there is a lot of competition.

All the same, if the fan is as good as Cooler Master thinks, then silent computing buyers interested in the old V550S should be pleased.

Here is a link to the 80+ test result:

It looks good. Hopefully there will be reviews for the new models soon.

Be careful shopping for a while because some retailers and web sites can't tell the difference between the old model and new.

If the new edition's Silencio FP fan is the same as the ones in the Silencio 652S case, then hopefully it runs at 500 or lower RPM, otherwise the acoustics is terrible.

Edit: Judging by their website's image the starting RPM is 600, same as the original, but this time up to around 60% of 550W (at 330W).

I have the 650w version, I read in some review the min rpm is like 1000+ rpm hence the noise, and the fan grill does add to that. Currently I am running it with a s flex that ram up base on cpu/gpu temp and fan grill removed. I can't comment on how safe it is since I only ran it for a few days, but judging other gold psu have passive mode up to 300w.
