Hi:

I have a HTPC based on an AOpen HT-80D box which includes a FSP275-60CU (PF) Power supply unit. After some time crashing the power supply is dead and I need a new one. However AOpen says that part is discontinued, and they have no other compatible.

Some of the parts included like an AMD Radeon HD 6670 graphics card recommends a 400 W or higher Power supply unit, so I don't understand why tit includes a 275W ( I didn't built it I bought it with all parts mounted inside to the extinct Forcet Computers).

So what can I do then. Is there any other power supply for a low profile box like this one that can fit the room of this power supply (140x60x85 mm) 400W or higher in order to repair my htpc?

You don't need a 400W PSU. It is common place for graphics cards to recommend larger than required PSUs just because there are some terrible no name PSUs around. The 6670 has a TDP of 66W and does not require additional power connectors so is good to use with a low power PSU.

The FSP is a non-standard design so you won't find something to just drop in. You can find a few of the FSPs going second hand on eBay and elsewhere but YMMV.

What other components are in this system? I would be tempted to look at a PicoPSU (or PicoBox clone) with an external power brick. This will be fanless and efficient plus 150W should cover most HTPC setups. If not and you're willing to look at some light case modification, perhaps consider an SFX case and how you might have to modify the case to make it fit. Seasonic amongst others make high quality SFX PSUs. Silverstone have a 450W Gold rated modular unit if you want.

Get your measuring tape out, see what will fit and what mods you need to do.

You're probably better off getting a new case and PSU though. Something like the older Silverstone SG05 w/ 300W PSU (should be under $100 USD by now), or if you need a full size optical drive, a Coolermaster Elite 120/130 and a decent ATX PSU.

Let's do the math on how much power you need for that system:
Clarksdale dual core CPU 73W TDP
H55 chipset 5W TDP
Mainboard power circuitry and additional chips 15W
HD 6670 27W
TV Tuner 10W
Hard drive 10W
140 W maximum power draw, real world usage between 50W and 100W.

The PSU in the AOpen box is shorter than TFX (Aopen 140mm - TFX 175mm) so you can't just drop a TFX unit in.
You can use a PicoPSU 150W.
FSP makes several small (mini 1U?) PSUs that might fit. THe dimensions are 150x81,5x40,5mm. The units are FSP150-50TNF 150W passive, FSP180-50LE 180W with fan.

HD 6670 TDP is 66W. Max stressed power is closer to 190-200W, with heavy load maybe in the 150W range.

Must have gotten the wrong card, sorry.
With 40W higher power draw the PicoPSU might not work.

I really do appreciate your help. I'll consider all your options having into account that PicoPSU could be not enough, so thinking of higher power PSU's.
