Why PicoPSU are so expensive?

Hello,

When reading and searching for my future quiet PC, I came accross these incredible small PSU.
I have never heard about picoPSU before last week.

It looks really great!

But it looks also bit expensive, when you consider few components on a small board.
42€ for the 150W, it's like a complete PSU 300W (correct 80+ bronze)

Is it only because it's a niche, so we have to pay a premium?

Why no other company is selling the same, cheaper?

Last question: do you have one on your PC? how good is it? (regulated power, silence if the brick has a fan, etc.)

There is another maker/seller at least, on ebay, electrodacus - he used to be on these forums some years back; http://www.ebay.com/itm/181252102012

its expensive because of its quality and small size.

there are other companies selling knock off "picos". (i wont link to them because I believe they are infringing on pico's patents)

i have 3 pico's, and love them. my bricks have no fan, so they are truly silent. the only moving part in my PC is the single 140mm fan that stays under 750 rpm.

i dont really do "build pages" - not enough time for me. but pictures of my latest build were posted in the last few pages of the viewtopic.php?f=15&t=66109 thread.

i have a 150 watt and 2 120 watt picos with a meanwell, a lite on and some chinese generic brick.
