I've been lurking here for around a year or so, while building up parts for my new PC.
These are the parts I have now:
Motherboard: Asus Gryphon
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vegenance
Video: Asus GTX 670 (from the recommendation on this site)
Now, the PSU I want to keep with seasonic as I've been happy with them in the past.
I was going to get a Seasonic Platinum 660W (It's only a few pounds more than the X-series) but I saw the Seasonic Platinum Fanless 520W on special so I grabbed one.
What made me go for it was the fact the low load efficency was much better and the fact it was on offer. I'm now debating whether I should return it and go for the 660W one with the fan.
Noise wise I'm not too bothered if the fan on the 660W comes on as it would only happen when gaming (if it even does)
What worries me about the fanless one is that in a micro atx case the video card will sit directly above it and block all the rising heat.
Also, realistically the efficency difference between the two would probably equate to about £3 a year so hardly worth worrying about.
What do you think I should do?
