EA650 Platinum Fan Curve

Post by BrianF » Fri Dec 25, 2015 9:50 am

I have what I believe is one of the very first Antec EA650 Platinum. Its always have quite a wosh to it and when I inquired with Antec way back when they said, literally, that yea the first batch had the wrong fan ramp or some such but would not consider that warranty.

Anyway I held on to it but its years later and after a recent critical look, or rather listen, to my system I realize that that PS is masking the noise of everything else in there. I pulled the plug on every fan, even yanked the hard drives to isolate it.

Anyone else have any experience with this one? Wondering if Antec was telling me the truth about the fan curve or if maybe I just got a bad fan which might we worth replacing.

I've measured the EA-550. Though I did not have tachometer by that time, it seemed to me the unit had fixed speed…which is even worse :D If it ramps on speed, be glad, it won't burn :D
