Hi guys,I'm building new pc now,looking psu for long time. I'm coming from 750w EVGA G2,wanted to take EVGA g3 1000w,but the net is full of people complaining about noise issues and my priority is quietness of pc,so very pity but I think g3 isn't good in terms of silence So the build looks like this:

MB Z390
9700k (planning to oc) or maybe 9900k if price difference will be something like 15% on amazon/ebay
1080ti/2070 (planning to oc)
2x8gb DDR 4
1 nvme m2 500gb
4TB HDD
1440p monitor + 1080p TV (hooked up to pc for youtube,movies etc)

There are sometimes deals on g3 like now for e.g 1000w unit is for 110$

but as I said before noise issues concerns me a lot...

So I came up with 2 other psu-s to choose,both are 850w units (since price for 650/750/850 is almost same I decided to take a 850 for a little future proof

As I have read,this seasonic model also has some kind of noise issues under idle/load so I don't know,maybe corsair will be good choice ?
So which one do you recommend from this two? Or maybe you have some other models to look for ? Thanks in advance

Relative prices where you are might be one of the deciding factors. In the UK for example from my normal supplier the Corsair and Seasonic prices for the same capacity/spec are either the same or nearly the same. So the Corsair RM850x Gold V2 is £100 and so is the Seasonic Plus Gold 850w. Which you choose is probably a matter of personal preference. You could consider a Platinum unit but there is quite a price premium over the Gold units. Again prices are similar, with the Corsair HX850 Platinum costing £135 and the Seasonic Platinum Focus Plus £140. Bear in mind that all these units have warranties of 10 years so they are potentially a very long term purchase. You might make back the additional cost of a Platinum unit in reduced electricity costs over the years.

The Corsair RMx 2018 have a good rep. I recently purchased the Seasonic Focus Plus 550 and I don't have any noise issues. Either would work well. Don't know if it's worth it getting an 850W supply unless you plan to go SLI. Another choice is the be quiet! Straight Power 11. Always on fan, but extremely low rpm and won't be heard.

Be aware that the warranty on the Straight Power 11 is only 5 years in either the USA or UK.

No doubt it is a great power supply moreover fully modular with 80+ gold efficiency. It works very well in Multi GPU setup. As you mentioned about the noise problem, sorry, I haven't face such kind of issue yet. And I think, if you face this problem, then you can take advantage of 10-year warranty by just simply returning back the product to the company.

Yeah, but returning is always annoying because you will have to wait for the replacement etc.

Just a heads up on PSU sizing..Intel is heading further into la-la land with Coffee Lake Refresh TDP numbers. All three released parts fall in the 95W TDP bucket. While Intel now specs TDP on base speed, the full turbo load power for the i5 is ~80W, the i7 ~160W, and the i9 200-220W.

Stock i7 9700k ~160W, stock i9 220W
Stock 2070 175W, Stock 1080 Ti 250W
Everything else ~ 30W
Stock total = 365 - 500W

Early numbers from i9 5GHz OC leads to additional 45-80W. i7 5.2GHz should be a lot less..call it 30-50W. Add another 50W for GPU OC.
Basic OC total = ~450 - 630W

Heavy game loads will run ~85% of these stress loads. Call it 390W to 535W. So, dependent on which parts you decide to buy, look for a PSU that's quiet(er than your gfx card) at these loads.

I agree with steve, i dont think you will need such a big PSU, my recommendation Seasonic FOCUS Plus Series SSR-550FX $71.41,

I don't know what more I can say about this unit that hasn't already been said. This unit was so far inside the mythic bracket for voltage regulation that I don't think anything else I can say could fully do it justice. The bottom line is, this is perhaps the best performing 550W unit I've seen thus far.

If you have doubts into being too small, really its not, i just finish a build with i7 8700k @4.7ghz all cores + GTX1080ti and the most i seen draw is around 340W from the wall, thats less than 315W DC, so 550W is enough to power almost any setup, where you do need more if you are planning a multigpu or i9/tr that you plan to OC heavy, else 550W is enough.
