You know, there are plenty of forums on problems with the Seasonic Super Tornado 300 -- use the search!

Oh, and, btw, the problems with this particular PSU are sort of sketchy...My particular revision does still have the "no start fan" (with a light whine/buzzing noise) symptom occasionally, but it runs well and silent...but yes, there are several cases of the newer revisions having very loud fans.

Bought one anyway, huh? Mine has found a home in my old P2 dualie. Nice and quiet at low power draw.

Although the heat coming out the back and the PSU cover feels the same as my Q-technology 300w. To silence my Tornado 350w I used a 5v a papst 4412FM.
Now my zalman cnps7000A at 5v is too loud

I found that the large yellow coil in the middle of the PSU heats up the PSU cover alot.
I also found that turning the PSU upsidedown so the fan is bring in air from above, the PSU is cooler.

Well, for one, the truepower rated for 480W probably doesn't start ramping its fan speed until a higher temperature than much lower rated 300W Seasonic.

Two: what other fans do you have in your system?
