Anyone own a Seagate Cheetah 15k.3?

Post by Riffer » Fri Jan 17, 2003 5:27 pm

I just wanted to know if anyone has one.

I had to pull out my Maxtor Atlas 10kIII. I could take the seek noise, but because I couldn't stand the high-pitched idle noise.

I wanted to know if the Cheetah had any vices of it's own.

since there cooler than some 7200s, they could be used in a smart drive 2002

I have one in my hands as we speak.

I should be able to test it early next week.

Initial tests showed a high pitched whine, but not as bad as my Atlas 10k III.

Also, runs quite cool. About three degrees higher than my Barracuda.

Unfortunately, no SeaShield on the drive. It probably would have helped the sound a bit, but not the temps.
