I have an idea to sandwich and sidesink (if anyone hasn't come up with a better idea?) my drives as i have seen here on the site. It would be like:
-------------------------
Aluminum platter
-------------------------
Hdd with top facing downwards (since the heat come from the bottom)
--------------------------
Thick sound damping material
---------------------------
Hdd with top facing upwards
----------------------------
Aluminum platter
----------------------------
+
Put Alumninum sidesinks on the drives
Maybe some extra damping material on the short end of the drives
-------------------------------
My first question is: how does that sound
second: how do you mount a package like that? I've seen some variants here were for example Mike C put his "package" just resting on some piece of foam.
I have read that harddrives should have a rigid mounting or it will have performance issues.
Mounting a decoupled and sidesinked/sandwiched drive
