I have a 40gb IBM that shows to be around 30C according to DTemp.

I also have a Western Digital 80gb/8mb cache installed, but I am not sure how to make DTemp check its temperature.

Any help with this little program is appreciated.

[quote="Jan Kivar"]Sorry, no can do: WD drives do not have temp sensor.

Just to add an update, the WD Raptor 36GB SATA does have a temp sensor that works with DTemp. I have one installed right now, running at a nice cool 84F with a Panaflow 12L fan on it.

If you have multiple drives that have a temp sensor, DTemp seems to just automagically put them both in its display. I have not been able to get DTemp to read temps when drives I know have a sensor are attached in a RAID array. This may change with the SI SATA RAID controller on my ASUS mobo, since I now have 1(one) serial drive connected to it now. It is NOT in RAID at this time, only as a normal drive.

I have been very pleased with the performance of the Raptor, and the noise level. It is not silent, but overall much quieter than the 30GB IBM 75GXP I had installed before. There is a slight whine that I can hear sometimes, it comes and goes. The seeks are audible, but I don't mind it, and it sounds kinda muffled. I have only hard mounted it so far, I think the noise will go down more when I get some mounts to decouple it.

The disk r/w is great, 42% improvement in one benchmark. XP boots even faster now, programs just pop up ready to go. I like the speed!

Wow, that's cool! Shows you how much I know about hardware. I have never even heard of the Raptor. Do they not make them larger than 36GB? and if so, are they are pricey?

The Raptor is WD's 10,000 rpm SATA drive. It's pricier than a similar sized 7200rpm S/ATA drive, but supposed to be cheaper than a 10k SCSI drive. http://www.Storagereview.com has a review.

Thanks, I've been waiting for somebody to report whether the Raptor has temp sensor.
