Is it possible to boot from USB "pen drives"?
Apparently there are some Intel et al motherboards that now allow this according to what I saw on a website recently. Check out the discussion on this thread Silent FDD (Floppy Disk Drive)
As noted in the thread linked above, the USB flash drives have a limited number of writes before they stop working, so as with all other data, you'll want to have a backup (in this case maybe both hardware and software
