which one for me: Samsung F1 1TB or Seagate 7200.11 1 TB

I have currently:
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 300GB
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
no optical, no floppy, no other storage devices either

    Antec Sonata 1
    Acoustipack deluxe padding material applied
    Nexus NX-4090 400W
    Papst 4412FGL 12cm case fan (1 in, 1 out)

    Zalman 7000A AlCu
    AthlonXP 2500+ 1.8GHz FSB333
    1.5GB DDR1 at FSB333 (3*512MB)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 (passive cooling)
I'd like to migrate my two small hard drives to a single 1TB drive for improved noise, reliability, thermal, energy efficiency, and space, probably other reasons that I fail to list.

Samsung F1 1TB
  • +quiet
    +energy efficient
    +runs cool
    +greener: less material (3 platters vs 4)
    +maybe more reliable (3 platters vs 4)
    +faster transfer rate
    unknown: vibrations?
Seagate 7200.11 1 TB
  • +cheaper (265eur vs 290eur)
    +better warranty (60m vs 36m)
+reliable (never failed on me, good reputation)
    +faster seek, more IO/s
    unknown: vibrations
It seems like samsung has a lot of benefits, but I really want to witness a HD failure as rarely as possible, and my several seagates never failed on me.

The system is going to run 24/7, all my seagates have taken that just fine this far.

Just can't decide. What would you do?

Should I try to get them cheaper from elsewhere in EU?

I don't know about the Samsung HD but Anandtech recently reviewed the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1TB along with Western Digital 1TB Caviar GP. Also in the results there is Hitachi's Deskstar 7K1000 which they had reviewed earlier. So you might want to check it out unless you've already done that.

Samsung F1 outperforms the 7200.11 easily. Plus, it's a lot quieter. It's the fastest 1TB HDD available.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two contenders, Seagate and Samsung

Hitachi, 5 platters -> Do Not Want
WD -> 5400rpm? Do Not Want

Any reviews to back up the speed claim? IO/s is more interesting than MB/s.
