Vibration damping for 5,25" bay drives?

Post by halcyon » Fri May 30, 2003 7:13 am

Are there any ready-made components out there that can be used to dampen the vibrations from 5,25" bay devices, such as optical drives (or hard drives in smart drive enclosures)?

Most 5,25" drives have direct contact with the metal case, causing annoying vibration in the whole case.

At least the Antec/Chieftec cases come with extra mounting rails that could be replaced with components that better dampen vibration and absorb noise.

Any such damping rails out there?

regards,
Halcyon

I haven't seen any damping rails...but it certainly seems like rubberized damping rails would be a good idea.

Yes I agree, that would really be a great idea. I've wanted 'em too!
