momentus 7200 vs barracuda LP

Post by damasko » Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:30 am

first of all, i use a silverstone sugo SG02B case, alluminium with a lot of holes.
the only fan is in psu, corsair HX520W, that runs at minimum, inudible.
my biggest problem is the hds idle whisper and in my pc lasts a barracuda 7200.10 of 320gb.
now i'm thinking to replace my 7200.10, and i looking for comparing info about:
- momentus 7200.4 320gb noise: typical idle 2,3/seek 2,6 - max idle 2,5/seek 2,7
- barracuda LP 1gb noise: idle 1,9/seek 2,0

for example the 7200.10 noise: typical 2,5/3,0 max 2,9/3,2

what do you think about the two choices?
it's really interesting that barracuda LP makes less noise than the 2,5 hd.

ps: why seagate differs between "typical" e "max"? what does it mean?
