No, I've heard it's not necessary for drives manufactured after 2010.12 or 2011.01 or something. Mine is manufactured 2011.04. However I'm unsure about what firmware the drive currently has now; some programs (like CrystalDiskMark) says 1AQ10001 (which is the buggy FW, right?) while other reports 1AQ10010 instead.Abula wrote:Did you updated the firmware of the F4EG?
But, it seems like the problem isn't acute anymore. I rebooted the computer and SMART now says, under "spin up time", that there have been a problem earlier and that the drive has been operated beyond its design parameters. Spin up time is now at 10,3 insted of 24,2 seconds and is labled as "normal".
But can I trust this drive? Should I worry for a premature failure, or crash?
