any good SPCR articles on this, using, say 500gb platter (i.e 500gb 1 tb 1.5 tg)? at 5400rpm? 3.5 "

Assuming same brand, WD or Samsung, rotational speed of 5400rpm, 500gb or 667gb platter (with 1tb on the horizon per Samsung) 32mb cache, 3.5"

how much of reduction in sound noise is there when going from 3 platters to 2 to 1? i.e using a 1-1tb platter vs a 2-platter 500gb HD. Going from 1 to 2 platters sounds like a "doubling" of sound pressure/energy (though sound is logarithmic) and what about going from 2 to 3?

Or, for example, going from a 3-platter 667gb 2TB drive to a 2-platter/1tb for 2TB drive how much of a savings in sound or increase when going from 2 to 3 platter?

since my PC has a ROM BIOS, even with 64-bit OS, it appears the ROM BIOS requires MBR hence 2TB limit bootable.

given this ROM BIOS limitations, how much of a penalty is there going from say 1-1tb HD from samsung to a 2-2tb at 1tb/platter? or savings from going from 3 667 gb platters-2tb to 2-1tb platters-2tb HD?
