The quietest 2.5" HDD: 1TB or more

Post by shosiu » Wed Feb 22, 2017 5:34 am

Hi guys,
I'm looking for the quitest 2.5" hdd. This will be my music/photos/video internal storage in pc case. You may be asking "why 2.5 inch" - I have very small case and 3.5" is not the option.
Currently I have HGST 7K1000 but it has too much vibration for such a small disk - it's probably due to its 7200rpm.
Regarding the space - it must be at least 1TB.

Any options/suggestions?

Thanks.

The Samsung M9T is still available http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1421-page6.html
Its what I have in my PS4, it was shucked from a Seagate Expansion per http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... ps4-to-2tb

If height is not a problem their are some 14mm thick 2.5" 4TB-5TB drives, but no idea of how quiet these are.

I also recommend Samsung / Seagate M9T, not dead silent, but to me its pretty good drive overall, i own 3 atm, one on my laptop, one on my ps4 and one on an external enclosure.
