Hello,
My current data drive is a WD15EADS. It is very quiet, but as it is only 1.5TB I have run out of space and need a new drive.
I've read that the WD15EADS is exceptionally quiet, so would it be unsafe to assume that other WD Green drives would be as quiet (although I've heard they are pretty quiet in general)? Say something like WD20EARS or WD30EZRSDTL.
I've heard about "head park feature" which decreases the life of WD Green drives, is this an issue to consider?
I have both SATA 3GB/s and 6GB/s so does it make a difference which one a drive uses?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
arachan.

Re: Quiet 2-3TB drive
this has not yet been proven, and appears to be a red herring. yes, the head park sound can be annoying to some, but it can be turned off.arachan wrote: I've heard about "head park feature" which decreases the life of WD Green drives, is this an issue to consider?
Re: Quiet 2-3TB drive
Hello,
Any recommendations for quiet drives in the 2-3TB range? Preferably drives that have quiet seek etc noises because I'll be suspending it to reduce/eliminate vibration sounds anyway so loud-ish vibrations aren't really a problem.
Thanks,
arachan.

Many WD greens have been proven exceptionally quiet:
