I have a Western Digital "Green" drive in a Scythe Quiet Drive, that is soft mounted. Pretty much inaudible in normal use, helped as it's data drive and OS is on SSD so less "disk thrashing"

In my opinion no PC is "properly" quiet if it has a hard mounted mechanical drive.

I went with an SSD in a SQD 2.5 in a SQD 3.5 in a dampened case in another room. Was still bothered with the noise. I moved the system off-site but still couldn't get rid of the noise. It's still there. Guess I have to learn to live with it.
