I have a NoVibes, haven't had the chance to try it out just yet though. Cuda V + NoVibes = 8)

Would a fan placed directly under one create noisy turbulence?

LEY ECD FEK-Pro alu/black looks really nice, but 77.95 € too expensive

That's euros. The current conversion is 1 USD = 0.855120 EUR. It has fluctuated quite a bit back and forth and as a rule of thumb I always consider them about equal. Especially for computer parts absolute prices in europe tend to be a little bit higher than in the states.

But since these particular gizmos seem to be of european origin, they may be cheaper over there than here

This looks like a good solution both technical and quality wise. The only downside is that it cost quite a bit of money. It will cost almost as much as a complete harddrive

They are expensive, but my hard drive is easily the loudest component in my system. I would have bought a quieter one, but the WD special edition drives are the only IDE drives with a 3 year warranty...

I found a review, but be warned it is in German (not a problem for me ;) )

Shuriken,

thanks for the link!

The results look quite promising.

Could you translate any snippets from the review that you consider important.

Are there any caveats or things to be aware of?

cheers,
Halcyon

My Cuda V was $69, that's less than this enclosure

However, "Conclusion result: Despite the quite proud selling price of up to EUR 84.50 us that is FEK pro due to the required achievement and one purchase-taps worth."

Also, "Apart from optimal isolating and uncoupling of the non removable disk from the housing, also the attitude of the Acoustic management plays an important role."

I'm sold! Just need some money to buy the thing...

Know what'd be crazy? Someone place a Seagate Cheetah in one, and see how quiet it gets :P
