I have a SI-97 that is only compatible with K7 slots. However, I will be getting an AM2 package and will like to use this heatsink on it. Is it possible to reuse the old Si-97 K7 heatsink clip on the AM2 plastic bracket? or any possible way to mod it?
I know there's the SI-97A that is compatible with AM2 but the heatsink clip has a round area that does not appear on the old SI-97
Help is much appreciated!
Thanks!
Possible to mod the SI-97 into an AM2 compatible heatsink?

The "A" version has a different mounting method, yes.
It's not impossible, but it needs some work.
Someone managed to mod a Scythe Ninja on a socket A, the thread might be useful.

Dunno, never had an AM2. I'd bet not, though.ckang008 wrote:is the clip on holes for the heatsink clip of the K7 the same as the AM2? If so, is it possible to bend it enough to fit? Don't really want to break the K7 clip and I can't really do too much modding right now since I won't have my tools to do that until I go back home in June.
