I need some ideas for a heatsink for my opty 175. I want to run it with an sflex f hooked to a fan controller on my spare dfi expert board in a P180 version with all the 182 upgrades.. I won't be overclocking the hell out of it (~2.5ish, maybe), so any of the higher end coolers should suffice in the cooling dept. I'm more interested in the ease of installation and stability than anything else. I've got another system with an SI-120 on the same board cooling an opty 148 to 2.86, but that heatsink was a pain in the ass to install.
Is the SI-128/SE an option? I've seen conflicting reports of whether it will fit a 939.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Max reported fan speed of ~800 at ~50c while running rthdribl on a FX-53 cpu.

yah, this:

with whatever decently quiet fan you can find to put on it. an oldy design but works real nice. does need a bit of air moving around it in the case - it's somewhat low-profile compared to more popular sinks.

Because of the socket orientation on my motherboard, and previous experience with tower coolers, I went with a SI-128 SE on my Opty 175. And to answer your original question, yes it will work, you have to buy the backplate and a bolt-down piece for it. Works like a champ.
I put a Scythe 120mm 1200rpm fan on it (soon to be a Nexus 120) and I have yet to see my cpu go above 42 to 44C. Pretty impressive.

I was quite happy with the Scythe Ninja when I was running an Opteron 175 - I could run it passive in a P150 until the cows came home.
Another good choice is the reference AMD heatpipe heat sink with a fan swap to an 80mm Nexus. Cools surprisingly well in a small package with a fairly benign noise signature.
