Terrific review . No noise measurements. Uncritical acceptance of a manufacturer-spec "17dBA". Said to be high priced and very difficult to install. Yep, we all ought to throw away our Ninjas and buy a Coolscraper 3 immediately!Sooty wrote:..by NoiseBlocker Coolscraper 3.0

Hello,
Well, it is a direct-touch heatpipe design! And the quote on noise:
It might be worth checking out -- it does come with a bolt-through mounting system!

...does say it is subjectively hard to hear, but they don't say what the ambient noise conditions were. The output noise from this cooler is outstanding. At just 17 dB/A it is a silent cooler and to hear any noise at all you need to get right up close to the blades of the fan (not recommended).

My 3 year old Akasa Evo33 is the same design, so nothing new about 'direct-touch'.
Yep, no different from most h/s reviews, with no real acoustic assessment. One thing to consider with their thermal comparison, the Xigmatek runs a 1500rpm fan, the CoolScraper a 1200rpm fan. Also consider, the older CoolScraper 2.0 was tested acoustically in various reviews, and proved to be up there with the very best. Unfortunately never tested by SPCR.NeilBlanchard wrote:...does say it is subjectively hard to hear, but they don't say what the ambient noise conditions were.
