HDT-S1283 vs Vendetta 2 vs Achilles S1284
Hi all, my zalman 9500 has become quite loud lately, the fan seems to be on the way out and i thought i may as well invest into getting a new CPU cooler.
From reading forum posts my case an antec solo seems to have trouble with the size of the TRUE120 and Noctua heatsinks so i decided to go for one of following HS's based on reviews from silent pc review and frostytech.
Xigmatek HDT-S1283
OCZ Vendetta 2
Xigmatek Achilles S1284
From reading the specs on these models the Vendetta 2 and the S1283 seem identical... Can this be correct? Whats the differences between these models?
Which should i get?
Also would these fans fit the new Scythe Kaze Maru 140mm? http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... 7f8fb1ae7f
Lastly, how much of a difference in cooling performance could i expect with one of these coolers compared to my Zalman 9500?
Thanks for all your help,
Tom

The Vendetta 2 has a different (lower rpm) fan and slightly redesigned fins but is otherwise the same (Its made by Xigmatek). I would go for whichever is the cheapest.
You could physically fit one of those Scythe 140mm fans onto the heatsink because it has 120mm mounting holes, but you might have clearance issues with the pushpins. (Sorry, that's no help really)

It's not purely a height issue. The problem in a Solo is caused by a support bar which might obstruct a tall heatsink, depending on the width of the heatsink and the position on the mobo of the cpu socket.Geeky1 wrote:What causes problems with the TRUE? I'm assuming it's the height....
The TRUE is slightly wider so less likely to fit.
