Its been 10 years since my last post, so probably about time. i7-3610QM / 45 watts. Stock cooler sounds like a freight train and motherboard PWM seems to not work. CPU fan is 50mm. Willing to take quiet over silent, but there doesn't seem to be much out there. I think this thing would fit: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/20583 ... 1545#blank
But no idea whether it can passively dissipate the heat. Have a couple of AC 64's for AM2 sockets sitting around - doesn't really mount properly, but the dimensions work if I could figure out that aspect. Help?
Edit> Corrected title. It is a socket 988 / G2.
Any ideas for cooling a socket 988/G2 processor?

The specs for that cooler says it should be good.
If you have any forced airflow through the fins it should most probably be good enough.

Fit just fine. Passive with ok but not great air flow yielded temps near max allowable on synthetic tests. Plopped a 800rpm near silent case fan on it and temps are great.
