amd64 cool'n'quiet v.s desktop pentium M

it seems clear to me that the 130nm generation offered one clear price/performance/quiet winner: tualatin based celeron p6. it costs the same as the via C3 but delivered twice the performance for same low wattage i.e 14 watts.

i'm curious as to which is better for high performance silent computing:

amd64 with cool'n'quiet technology versus teh desktop pentium M (aka centrino). the 2mb L2 cache versus integrated memory controller.

intel is shipping pentium M with 90nm process. amd will migrate to 90nm in the near future.

i don't have any information on the upcoming 90nm Via offering except it will use the pentium 4 socket, not socket 370.

I would say A64 has the edge in performance, but the Pentium M is more efficient in terms of heat output. I would personally go with A64, since desktop boards for the Pentium are not plentiful (most are industrial boards).

btw, the Celeron Tualatin suffers from extreme high leakage currents. Better build a optimized Athlon XP one.
