Hello, I have an Athlon XP 1800+ Palomino, and I am currently running a horrendous Aeroflow. In the near future I will turn this computer into a 24/7 computer, and it will be right next to my bed. I might do some light overclocking. The stock fan has several broken fins, so I cannot reinstall it as a temporary solution. I have been doing some research on cheap quiet cooling, and I have come up with the following

Arctic Cooling Copper Silent 2 TC, Revision 2
http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/cop ... -rev2.html

and

Spire WhisperRock IV

Of course any others that are as cheap good. Which one would be better?

I also have a AMD stock heatsink without the fan. Would a Vantec 60mm Stealth on the stock heatsink work well enough to run my system 24/7. It would be the cheapest option.

Vantec "Stealth" Double Ball Bearing Case fan, Model "SF6025L" (60mm)

Would this work?

Thank you for your time

The whisperrock has an 80mm fan. Maybe you can replace it with a Panaflo. I don't think any of the HSFs you have listed will perform as well as the Aeroflow (I agree, extremely noisy). How about the 7-8 rated heatsinks on SPCR's recommended list?

Performance is not my first priority. Noise and price are the two most important.

Here's a review of the Spire and the Arctic without thermal control. The Spire cools better and is less noisy.

I run the falcon rockII (almost the same as the whisper rock) on my TbredA @ 1840Mhz. The stock fan undervolted on a fanmate to about 8v is audible, but not at all loud. Temps idle in the low-mid 40's and go up to mid-high 50's running prime 95.

I'm planning on replacing the HSF with my next round of upgrades, but for the price, it has been very decent.
