Hi everybody,
i'm planning to buy a new pc and i'm wondering if it is worth changing the Intel retail stock hsf with a Zalman 6500Alcu...
Is there a hearable difference in noise??
thx,
Spike

That depends on the fan you decide to put to blow on it, since the zalman has a bigger dissipation area, that usually means you can get away with a less noisy fan, so yes, it'd probably be quieter.
Then again, I don't know what intel hsf's come with for kind of fans, the last pentium I bought was a P-150...

I think the stock Intel fan is about 33dB... It was far too loud for me, i now use an Alpha 8942T, and have a 19dB papst fan on it running at 10V (id say the fan is about 16db now). That is plenty to cool my 1.8A which is OCed to 2.4GHz.
People seem to think the Zalman is the best for quiet cooling to id think you could get even better results with it maybe?
