Best cooler for CoreDuo2 6300 in antec nsk2400 case?
Well what do you think. I know the ninja is too tall. How tall can I go and still fit the top on the case? Am I gonna be stuck with a zalman 7000 or 7700 at best? Or is there another better option?

Perhaps a Thermalright SI-128 or the SI-128 with a LGA-775 bracket?GamingGod wrote:Well what do you think. I know the ninja is too tall. How tall can I go and still fit the top on the case? Am I gonna be stuck with a zalman 7000 or 7700 at best? Or is there another better option?

If I remember correctly, you have 120mm of clearance from the top of the CPU to the bottom of the lid.GamingGod wrote:Well what do you think. I know the ninja is too tall. The SI-128 and SI-120 are approximately 90mm tall without a fan. My fear is that with a 25mm fan, the blades would be so close to the lid that they would be starved of airflow and make more noise.
The XP-120 is short enough to work well in the NSK, however the heatpipes interfere with the capacitors or memory slots on some motherboards.

yup, exacly 120mm, no less no moreultrachrome wrote: If I remember correctly, you have 120mm of clearance from the top of the CPU to the bottom of the lid.
SI-120 is 88mmultrachrome wrote: The SI-128 and SI-120 are approximately 90mm tall without a fan. My fear is that with a 25mm fan, the blades would be so close to the lid that they would be starved of airflow and make more noise.
SI-128 is 93mm
and you are right - there will be 7mm or 2mm space with 25mm fan, which is too less. ppl are sugesting at least one inch of space.

XP-120 is 63mm
which makes it perfect for 25mm fan, or 38mm but here will be only 18mm space, so im not so sure that the advantage of putting stronger fan will be also visible in cooling and silence.
a bit shame, that there is no new (xp-120 is about 2 years old), not to tall, non-tower cooler for such nice, small cases as nsk2400;-( in september i want to build system on it, so i hope that somthing will popup or i will stick with xp-120 (or zalman 9500 and damage some top of it).

If I remember correctly, you have 120mm of clearance from the top of the CPU to the bottom of the lid.
I thought it was 120m from the base of the case to the lid.. which would mke it liek 110.
This has been the biggest problem for me in getting an nsk2400

In Antec NSK2400 Available?, MikeC said:
The distance from the top of a mounted CPU to the chassis cover is 4.75" or 12cm. The HS must be shorter than this.
I has wrote this in other post:
Why not a Si-128 with this?:
We make a hole (12X12cm) in the top of the case and we cover with this... It must looks well and we will take cold air from the top of the case... We attach the fan to the grill with silent blocks...
I think it can works perfectly and it is a very easy mod.
