Duct Cooling Video Cards

Post by Minotaar » Wed Mar 19, 2003 2:46 am

Hi,

Im interested in eliminating a case fan and running a duct from the back of the case to the video card, and then swapping the video card fan for a bigger one that I can undervolt.

Does anyone know if there is a mounting bracket/method for mounting an 80mm fan on a video card?

Also, does anyone here have any experience with Badong ducts?

It's a Just Cooler thin slot fan. The plastic duct is made out of a car dealer logo plate. They put these things on like a license plates when the car is new. They are thin, but fairly stiff and cut easily with any cutting tool.

I used some strapping tape to hold the plastic to the fan.....then covered both sides with compusa foam. I had to convert the four-wire plug to a three wire plug(no rpm sensor) in order to use a Zalman speed controller. The duct really cuts down on the noise......

BTW...you could probably get some of those logo plates by going to a car dealer and ask...
