Zalman CNPS7000 in stock in USA finally

Sharkacorp (http://www.sharkacorp.com) has both the CU and the ALCU versions in stock, Directron has started taking preorders. Newegg doesn't have a listing on them yet.

Excellent been looking forward to getting one of these. But now for a stupid question... what's the difference between the CU and ALCU is the pure CU better for performance? (thus the higher price)

Cu is the all copper version with slightly better perfomance but also heavier in weight, the AlCu is mostly aluminium with a bit of copper but a whole lot lighter.

I would personally get the all copper version, what is a 10$ in the long run?

I think the downside is primarily weight, not cost. At 773g the copper version exceeds the maximum specified weight (450g) for a Pentium 4 cooler.

The AlCu version, at 445g, is safer for moving around after it's been installed.

Got one. (Was using 5700Cu). The frigging thing is a MONSTER (in both size & effectiveness). It cools about 11c better than 5700Cu under similar noise level (fan swapped). My watercooling is getting pushed back even further now. (Just got a new boy in house and I can't seem to afford time/money like I used to on computer for a while)
(Its .27/.20 c/W is dead accurate from my little experiments).

jinu117 - that temperature decrease is amazing news. I assume you got the pure copper version.

Was the fan swap (fan blade swap I guess?) difficult to do? Were you unhappy with the sound level of the stock unit or did you do the swap just for the purpose of comparison?

I hope a SPCR review is in the works.

Fan swap was for 5700 not 7000. the 7000 already comes quiet (even at full speed it is decently quiet). If you are not pumping out more than 100W, I see no reason to use anything other than min speed on this thing. (I overclocked my 2.53 to 3.06 with 1.55v and running at 2000 RPM and still getting maxed out temp of 51c and 42c idle) To my uneducated guess, noise vs noise, 7000 should match up (or beat) SLK-900. Of course, 900 has versatility while 7000 would be cheaper as it comes with its own fan.
I would heartly recommend this thing to anyone I know.

jinu117 How are the temps overall in your system now. I'm thinking of getting a retail 3.06ghz and throwing the Zalman 7000 on it and a Radeon 9700 with a heat pipe.

Really just wondering how your temperatures as a system are (especially when you OC to 3.06ghz) and how's the noise for you overall from a few feet away?

Temps are all right at this point.
CPU 43/54
Motherboard 24/25
Noise level isn't quite what it used to be (I can hear it upto 6ft now in middle of night beyond that impossible to hear) When I got it really quite under stock speed, I had hard time hearing it a 2ft away.
Mine wouldn't be typical system as I've done numerous things at this point.
Zalman northbridge, Zalman HP80A for 9500 pro with 80mm panaflo L1A running at 1300 RPM or so, Zalman 7000 Cu running at 2000 RPM, Case has 3 active fans (2 intake 1 exhaust running at 1500 RPM, PSU is running at 1400 RPM, All fans otherwise noted are Vantec stealth 80mm and iso-mounted. HDD is mounted in No Vibe 3 with another 80mm fan running at 5v, whole case has been treated with Paxmate.
As for OCing is involved, right now at 3.04 Ghz (1.65v) with memory of 401Mhz (2.7v) and Radeon 9500 Pro running at 351-304 (vs 280-270 stock or something like that) This setup is definitely generating more heat than your stock config mentioned so you should be fine with even lower fan speed with 7000Cu.
