Any recent reviews of Scythe products - getting a QX9650

Post by boe » Wed Nov 28, 2007 8:52 pm

Hello,

I'm going to get a QX9650. I currently have a scythe ninja and am pleased with it but I figure there are some newer scythe products but would like to know if they are better.

Thanks

Scythe is supposed to come out with a monster heatsink called the Zipang somewhere around early 2008. It looks pretty promising. It's supposed to use a 140mm fan which should be quite nice for silencers. Although the heatpipe configuration looks like it would create quite a bit of airflow resistance. I don't know if it will beat the ninja though. Here's a link to the to the scythe forums where there are some images of the Zipang.

Oh schnap. I might just hold off on getting a TRUE120 when I make my new build just to see how this one pans out. Looks like with this you could use a side case fan to feed it air like in the RC 690, whereas with the TRUE120 it's too tall for it.

I just heard from a rep at Scythe - they suggest I wait until January for the Ninja Cu. I found this picture. http://www.hartware.de/review_767.html

Nice cooler but looks copy the Thermalright XP-120. Kind of disppointed in Sycthe for that. Hopfully it will be good for those that require good low profile heatsink for small form factor cases or HTPC case.
