I have a Scythe Infinity and just upgraded to a socket 1156 CPU. The Infinity isn't compatible so I've been thinking about getting the Mugen 2.

The reviews shows the Mugen 2 works really well with 2 fans, but comes with only one fan clip. Is there an alternate way to mount the 2nd fan without buying an extra official fan clip?

Either that or I could stick with my Infinity and buy the adapter. However it's a push pin design which sucks and I don't think it performs that well.

You'll probably cool somekind of 95w cpu? I think the mugen with its stock fan at low speed might be enough.

while i was awaiting delivery of my official scythe clips, i mounted a second fan with paper clips and rubber bands... kinda ghetto for a long-term install, tho.

The fan clips are like $10 which is really high for a pair of wires

I'm leaning towards just getting the Mugen 2. I think the Infinity will perform pretty well with a push pull, but the push pin mounting is a concern with such a heavy cooler.

Hi. I know this is quite an old thread, but I'm having the same problem as the OP regarding the Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B. The only retailer I can find that sells official Scythe Clips is across the country. I don't really want to pay shipping for $3 worth of clips =(

Does anyone have any suggestions on clips from other manufacturers or other make-shift solutions on mounting Scythe fans to the mugen 2?

thanks!

Mugen 2 is a great cooler. I'm cooling a Phenom II X4 940 with it semi-passively. No fan on the CPU but running the top exhaust on my Antec 300 @ low and a Slipstream 800rpm in the rear.

I've yet to see it hit over 54C...

(8x) 8 inch zip ties.

through the fan holes, through the fins, through the second fans holes. slid a second zip tie over the exposed tail to secure it.
