Looking for Quiet CPU Fan

I am looking for quiet CPU fan for the follows system:
AMD Athlon II X3 445 3.1GHz
Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H
Transcend 4GB Kit (2GBx2) DDR3
Samsung 500GB 16MB Sata2 HD502HJ SpinPoint F3
LG GSA-GH24N X24 SATA DVD
Seasonic 350ET
ANTEC SONATA III

I wonder should I take the "CoolerMaster Hyper TX3" or any "AC Alpine" or any other cooler?

As you seem to be on the cheap side, I think that a Scythe Shuriken/Big Shuriken should suffice.

IMO Cooler Master should be fine, but needs definitely a quieter fan: if you're willing to do, then a Hyper212+ should be better for some pennies more, while I don't like AC CPU coolers, but it's a very personal view.

At anyway, take note it's not the tool but how to use it to make the things quiet. So you need an effective form of fan control.

Why not the Scythe Mugen?

I bought the shuriken and I am not happy with it. The 100mm fan is way way way too loud in my opinion. If I were choosing between the regular and the big shuriken, I would choose the big shuriken with the 120mm fan.

But I think the Scythe Mugen is the same price and by all measures a better cooler uunless you are cramped for space. But you look like you have a decent sized case. There are only a few better coolers and they all cost a lot more. It is probably the best bang for buck cooler around.

If so, the Mugen costs about the same as the Shuriken. Are the other options he is talking less expensive even than these?

AC Freezer 64 pro is probably the bets bang for the least amount of bucks. Fan is PWM and is very quiet with most motherboards running it as low as ~600RPM.

For the blow down cooler round up they did, didn't they try the intel cooler with the fan replaced with a quieter one and get fairly decent results? If you really want to cheap out, that's probably a good way to go, but not sure if AMD coolers will mod the same way.

I have a Mugen 2 on my AMD x6 CPU. It does an excellent job keeping the temps down and rarely becomes noisy.

That is clearly the least cost. SPCR has done that in the past... and I recollect they got good results.

The best part about it is you don't have to remove the heatsink to do it.

Scythe Mugen Mugen 2: AeroCooler $29.00

For $5 more, Mugen is a lot more cooler. And it looks like you can't even replace the Arctic Cooling with a standard 120mm.

over here Mugen2 (~$48) cost some good deal more than ACF pro (~$29)

I'd buy Mugen2 for $29 just to have it sit on a shelf waiting to be installed

(I actually did buy Accelero S1 and it waited almost 2 years in a drawer until I finally installed it )

I did that with some Noctua heat sinks that were on sale. I have mixed feelings on how smart that was. By the time I get around to using them.. they will be outclassed. They sort of are already with the new Noctua downdraft cooler.
