I have a notion I've found one or two passive heatsinks one could mount on an LGA1155 placed in a Antec ISK 300-65 Mini-ITX case. Assuming the tip about removing the back half of the drive tray brace actually works (sorry, I didn't search for that part), I would imagine something U2-sized, or 64mm, would fit nicely, and should cool most anything I could mount.

The alternative is to just get a U1-sized passive, and be done with it. But I don't think that would work half as well, and limit me to the 35w CPUs.

Any thoughts?

How much headroom do you have for the heatsink?

Take a look at the Scythe Kozuti and the Proimatech Samuel 17 (with a Nexus fan).

I'm not a big fan of downdraft heatsinks, thanks.

So anyways: This being all theoretical as yet, I don't know how much head room I'd have to work with. The review here says 96mm, minus 15 for the motherboard, it's standoffs, and the deck height of the CPU, firgure subtract another 2 for wall thickness of the case.

But then you have the back half of the drive brace: If you could find a motherboard with a centrally located socket, it'd be a non-issue; But photos at Newegg never seem to bear that out. There is the tip about removing the back half of the brace, I just feel like I should use that as a last resort …

So: 64mm of Dynatron sound like too much? http://www.dynatron-corp.com/en/product ... d=200&in=0
