so i am modding a computer for silence to use for recording audio. here is the computer:http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8359/8321 ... de98_b.jpg
and yes i run it open like that.
for all intents and purposes the cpu cooling fan will be the only moving part in the computer.
i'm not concerned with any overclock potential - i must only have enough cooling for full load at stock frequency ( for video editing ) and no more. my goal is lowest possible noise - less than 10 dba - but does not need to be completely passive as long as you can't hear it.
my best idea right now is Noctua NH-U9B SE2 cooler to be equipped with a single Noctua NF-B9 PWM fan.
i was previously looking at Noctua D14 and Thermalright HR-02 but it seems that i should be able to get lower noise AT IDLE with a 92mm fan than either 120mm or 140mm fan ?
when i will be recording audio the CPU will be under load but it will be a low load. total power draw from 120V outlet is 65watt when recording audio and 55watt at idle, so we're looking at single-digit watt dissipation over idle.
my motherboard is MSI Z77A-GD65
thanks in advance !
