I am still a little confused though. The BTK from the Macho rev.A is
not compatible with the IFX-14 due to the different sized cpu block. (The top plate from the Macho is too small to fit properly on the IFX block.) If this new kit fits well on the IFX-14 the top plate would be too wide to fit well on the smaller block of the Macho, yet Thermalright lists it as compatible with the HR-02. Does the Macho have a different sized block to the original HR-02?

Yes, exactly right. You would lose this extra functionality with the new BTK backplate, but real world impact would be minimal; iirc reviews at the time claimed it only made a 1°C (or less) difference, hardly worth the headaches from trying to fit it in the case! The mounting system was never
that solid with the original IFX-14 kit, it would be interesting to see how it would perform with a superior mounting kit.
