Thinking about Thor's Hammer:

Post by QUIET! » Sun May 26, 2013 11:46 am

I guess I'm a fan of Xigmatek HDT heat sinks.

My first was a Gaia and it does its job quite well for a $20 heat sink.

My next is a S1284 that I got for $19 in the bargain bin and I upgraded with a $10 crossbow mounting kit for socket 1155 compatibility. It has four staggered heat pipes and should perform well but I haven't tested it yet.

Now I found a Thor's Hammer in the discount bin and I'm tempted.

It needs a bracket kit and a fan (or not, it can work passive) but its big and has 7 heat pipes, 4 8mm direct touch and 3 6mm on top of that.

I'm tempted to get it for a passive i3 or get two 140mm low rpm pwm fans and have an over clocking beast.

If anyone has tried this heatsink and would like to share their experience, please do.
