Hello

In the hope of having a cooler, more quiet AMD A8-3850 CPU, I'd like to replace the stock heatsink + fan with a Coolermaster GeminII M4 heatsink on an ASRock A75M-ITX motherboard.

But I have little experience and can't figure how to put the two together.

I attached a picture of the parts I have.

Thanks for any help.

The manual (available as a PDF from the Coolermaster link you provide) is quite clear isn't it? The pictures explains the procedure quite well I think.

You need to remove the plastic stuff bolted to the motherboard that the original cooler hooks on to.

You need to pick the right type of retention plate (3, 4 and 5 in your picture) and screw it onto the cooler. Nr 4 seems to be the right one.

Then the holes in the retention plate will line up with the holes in the motherboard and the cooler is secured from the back through the backplate (nr 2 in your picture).

Thanks much. It's now a few degrees cooler with a bit less noise.

if you can find a scythe thin fan,and put some rubber shims in between the fan and cooler, its a very decent cooler.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that next time I get a mini-ITX board.
