Opinion?

Post by i30i3i3y » Thu Jul 01, 2004 7:41 am

I'd appreciate some advice on which is the better cooler among the 2 listed

Coppersnake - http://www.speeze.com/products/fcc.asp?ProdID=141

Pantherstream - http://www.speeze.com/products/fcc.asp?ProdID=102

I'd have thought the pure copper one would be better but i can get em both for the same price. On ebuyer the Pantherstream is actually more expensive! I don't understand why. Any advice would be appreciated.

According to Speeze's own specs, the "Pantherstream" will cool better than the "Coppersnake". Note that their °C/W rating for the CS is .33 and for the PS (sorry, I just can't bring myself to keep typing out those silly names) is .26.

Personally, I wouldn't buy either. Those 70mm fans will surely not be too quiet. There's many other S478 HSFs that are tested and proven to be good and quiet performers. Things like the Zalman 7000, or the inexpensive Spire Coolwave come to mind.

"Pantherstream"... isn't that what a panther makes after drinking too much?

I would look at the Arctic Cooling heatsinks as well. They've got a good price/performance/noise relationship.

Take a stroll through the Cooling section here and read some of those reviews. Many of the coolers there are available at prices in the same range as the speeze's.

In fact...I happen to know of several high quality heatsinks available at bargain basement prices: SPCR's Lab Clearance Sale!!!

What CPU are you looking to cool?
