quiet budget cpu cooler for r3 3100
Hi
i come to expert for advice hahaha
i like not to hear my pc .
Im looking to build a r3100
is its stock cooler quiet? is it worth it to buy a cheaper cooler for it
witch would you suggest ?
ps
i do still have a 2 s12b flex 120mm noctua fan plus 2 nfp12 120 fan from previous build so maybe i could use 2 of them for air flow or cpu cooling
if the cpu cooler you suggest already have silent fan maybe i could use my fan for gpu cooling replacement?
im looking to buy among those https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/products/cp ... ice&page=1
not to expensive, i wont overclock much. i have p183 case from 12years old and cp 850antec psu
tx
is it even worth getting a cooler other than the stock one r3 3100 ?

beQuiet! Dark Rock Slim has worked well with my 3600 in Fractal R6. Silent or very quiet even under load and not nearly as expensive as the heavier beQuiet! or Noctua coolers.

Re: quiet budget cpu cooler for r3 3100
thats a 86 dollars cooler, almost as much as mobo!
those seem to be my options.
Hyper 212 Evo
contact 12
Gammaxx 400
Pure Rock Slim 35.14 CFM CPU Cooler (BK008) 39,99
Pure Rock 2 CPU Cooler (BK006)
seems like 212 evo has better cooling but what about the noise? quietness?
did spcr tested noise for them?
remember i can use 2 of my 4 noctua fan in intro to mix up with a great cooler . ....
i could go a bit higher than the price of those 3
also could someone explain me why some people say to others take a 212 evo and place a low noise fan on it? i does nt make sense ,by doing the temp of the cpu will go higher !

The 212 EVO is pretty good. You don't need more cooling than it provides with the fan running quietly.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is a good choice for a low budget cooler.anaturelover wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 10:04 pmalso could someone explain me why some people say to others take a 212 evo and place a low noise fan on it? i does nt make sense ,by doing the temp of the cpu will go higher !
If the stock fan is too loud then a more quiet fan might be a good replacement. Nothing strange about that. And yes, lowering the noise will result in higher temperature*. It's a trade-off. With a more expensive cooler you can have lower noise, or lower temperature depending on how you look at it.
The trick is to balance cooling performance, noise output and cost. What's right for you only you can decide. I tend to spend a little bit more for a slightly more polished cooler. But I've used the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO in builds myself and I recommend it.
* You can sometimes get both, by going from a bad or mediocre fan to a high quality one. But it will cost more.
Re: quiet budget cpu cooler for r3 3100
Dark Rock Slim is whisper quiet at normal loads. Depending on where you live it may not cost a lot more than the 212 EVO. But if the price difference is too much the 212 EVO would be my second choice.

Re: quiet budget cpu cooler for r3 3100
I dont feel safe using a fan replacement that would make the rig hot . I want something that will automatically set the fan speed to what is needed to be cool.
Since i dont want the noise, i researched a bit and found those options what do you think about them?
Correct me if im wrong

But isn't that what you get no matter what? The fan will be controlled and automatically spin faster as the CPU gets hotter. Every normal system will have some kind of fan control, usually handled by the motherboard.anaturelover wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:02 pmI dont feel safe using a fan replacement that would make the rig hot . Depending on how beefy (and usually how costly) your cooler is the fan curve will be different. A smaller cheaper cooler will require the fan to spin faster for the same temperature.
Another thing to consider is idle noise. For me this is way more important than noise at full load, since the system idle most of the time and at load other things like maybe the graphics card fans will also get louder making the CPU fan less of a main concern. The fan can play a bigger role than the heatsink in this, maybe the fan RPM will be low no matter what heatsink you have. But a lower quality fan is more likely to have annoying ticking sounds and such.
Re: quiet budget cpu cooler for r3 3100
Have you considered trying the stock box fan first and see if it meets your needs?
Re: quiet budget cpu cooler for r3 3100
more on this...the 3100 is in the 65W TDP marketing bucket, and when stressed is closer to 60W max. My guess is that'll run closer to 40-50W with typical max loads. So, it's not a hot running CPU. The stock cooler may work out well in terms of temps and noise.
If it's too noisy at reasonable temps, then you can try replacing the fan with one you have. If that doesn't work out, then you can pursue replacement coolers.

Re: quiet budget cpu cooler for r3 3100
This is one reason why I opted for the Dark Rock Slim. It keeps a Ryzen 3600 cool at idle without the fan spinning at all. With a custom fan curve the only time I hear the cooler over my Noctua case fans and MSI Gaming X GPU fans is when I am stress testing the CPU. It's that quiet.Vicotnik wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 11:40 pmAnother thing to consider is idle noise. Even if the fan operates at 40% rpm it is inaudible. And with the Ryzen 3100 it may never have to get faster than that.
The 212 Black may or may not be quieter at full blast, but I guarantee the Dark Rock Slim is quieter at idle and normal gaming loads. It has a better fan at low rpms (and I'm saying this as a huge critic of the Silent Wings 3 as a case fan).

I recommend you buy the cooler master that noise is lover than 40 DB
