Fan placement in Micro Custom PC Case (Brix)
Im working on a project making a new case for my Brix Pro.
I've already fixed the cooling problem by attaching a large heatsink.
I need help figuring out the placement of the fans and if they should push or pull.
I think they optimal solution is the 2nd illustration but please share your input.
Keep in mid that the case is 110x110x120mm.

It's hard to say. What does the case look like ? Is it very open ?
Re: Fan placement in Micro Custom PC Case (Brix)
Well it's not made yet. But i think it will be very closed case
There will be ventillation where the fans are located, and maybe on the bottom if no fan are placed there.

I would try to avoid blowing hot air from the MB on the hard drive...
Use just one exhaust first, and see what you end up with. If it's too hot, add an intake fan.
I'd try this setup :
{top of the case} with ventilation
fan
motherboard
hard drive
{bottom of the case} with ventilation
Post pics when you're done !!

Re: Fan placement in Micro Custom PC Case (Brix)
I did that configuration with the stock case and stock heatsink but with a Noctua 92x14 instead of the stock fan. That wasnt really enough, tried both push and pull. Thats why i would prefer 2 fans
This is how the MB with stock heatsink looks like. I've added a Noctuas L9i heatsink instead.
Seems like i might have to build a Test-Case in wood before making the final decision..

Re: Fan placement in Micro Custom PC Case (Brix)
Which fans are you planning to use ? The slim 92mm Noctua ?
They really don't push very much air... Using the regular size ones would almost double your airflow with the LNA and reduce your overall fan noise by 2dB (according to the spec sheet)

Well. The plan was to use the slim version, because size matters. I want a small case.
Re: Fan placement in Micro Custom PC Case (Brix)
Instead of using 2 slim fans in push/pull configuration, try using a single normal size fan in exhaust only configuration...
