Zalman ZM-MFC 1 LED's

Just bought one of these and I'm extremely happy with it except for one thing...

None of my fans with exception of the CPU fan cause the LED's on the knobs to glow.

Are RPM monitoring fans required for the LED's to glow? It's not a life or death situation, but it'd be nice to have visual confirmation that the fans are moving at a ballpark estimate speed.

Maybe my unit's defective or something, but I've tried switching the CPU fan to other spots and the LED's come on just fine....

Yes, the fans need to have all three wires connected.
