I have need of two 60 mm x 15 mm (max) thick fans that are suitable for speed control, i.e. will start at approximately 7 Volts and have a tachometer output. Preferably the fans should be quiet, but since they will rarely run at full speed that is not a serious consideration. The only fan that I have been able to find so far that meets this criteria is the Sanyo Denki 109P0612H701 and that may not be readily available. Is there anyone out there who knows where I may be able to locate that fan are another that may fulful the above criteria?

You could try Sunon fans. I've only had one but from experience it was pretty good in terms of airflow to noise ratio. It was a 80x80x25 fan, apparently 50cfm at 40db at 3900 rpm. Even at 5 volts it was a bit noisy for me as you might imagine, but a good performer nontheless, and always started at 5volts.
