Phanteks 140mm fan question
Since these apparently are the best 140mm fans out there, I thought about replacing my Define R4 stock fans and put a third one blowing upwards in the bottom. But are these "UFB" bearings fit for that purpose like ball bearings?
Re: Phanteks 140mm fan question
Well does anyone know any other decent 140mm fans capable of such placement?
Re: Phanteks 140mm fan question
I am using the Noctua Redux NF-P14s 350 to 1200 rpm PWM 140mm fan in this configuration and it's absolutely fine. This is a 140mm square frame fan. The Redux NF-P14s is also available as a 450 to 1500 rpm PWM, and there are two 3-pin models in 900 and 1200 speeds.
Re: Phanteks 140mm fan question
I also tested a NF-A14 PWM on a Fractal Design Arc Midi R2, and to what i remember the fans worked good aiming up, down had a weird sound, but up was fine. The Phantek (i own a the pwm version of the one you are considering) and it's very similar to Noctuas in terms of quality, they even use the same crappy sleeving for the cable, so im assuming they use the same OEM manufacturers for their fans. On the other hand the Noctas PWM drop much lower than the Phanteks, but i never really tested the 3pin version of either, and thats what you are looking.
