I use a PS2 as a DVD player, basically because we don't want to fund the MPAA bastards more than we already have. However, the fan was an unbearably loud, 60mm china-made offbrand fan with no bearings and bad circulation. It has been summarily excised. an 80mm Pflo has taken its place. But the system is setup to feed the fan on 5 volts, which is barely above the pflo's starting speed. Sometimes it doesn't start at all, which goes unnoticed until the system overheats and shuts down. Sometimes it just overheats anyway even with the fan running.

Does anyone know of a good, quiet natively 7-10v fan or a silent 5v fan?

P.S. this will be exposed to the outside, so even the low-flow panaflo is audible.

Most fans have a more powerful motor than the Panaflo and most will start w/o problems even close to 4V. The simple solution is to get a medium speed (M) 12V 60mm fan that sounds / feels like it has decent bearings and drop it in. The low voltage will take care of noise.
