Damn I'm glad I found this thread. I ordered a bunch of these, and they weren't that expansive until shipping was finally added (AFTER I ORDERED BLEH I got them from http://www.mcmaster.com/)

I was fighting pretty hard to get them in and eventually just gave up, because I don't even have the pc I plan to make silent yet.

Oh and I just remembered how they used a box that could hold like 5 or 6 DVD's to ship my couple hundread grams of grommets

Be warned that fitting them is rather difficult.

o Some fans are low vibration to begin with
o However, if your fans are above the lowest noise level, the degree
of vibration will be higher and so the benefit increases with fan rpm

Alternatives if you have spare material:
o Cut an actual gasket out of a soft closed-cell material
---- 80mm square, then craft-knife around a fan grill circle
o Things like cork or rubber sheet
---- something like sorbothane sheet very good

Alternatives are the proper rubber (not neoprene foam) fan gaskets
sold by PAPST, I must find a cheaper source of them as they work ok.

Shipping should be 50c / 50p, they weigh next to nothing.
Hunt around - I recall *someone* sells them for 1st-class US mail.

the couple of times i ordered from mcmastercarr i specifically asked them to use the cheapest shipping method available. they sent my fan isolators in a padded envelope by UPS for $3.50 and they still arrived just a couple days after i placed the order.

Somebody does them cheaper than that in the USA,
I'm sure I recall 1.75$US - they go in a letter envelope fine.

Might have been the audio/silent-PC site re silent fanless PSU.

yeah but they also wanted $1 a piece just for the fan isolators so i'll stick with $10 for 20 + 3.5 shipping.

Not sure they are as elastic as they ones you speak of, but ordered some to see. Not too expensive since I was ordering something else from there too.
Oh great, and a nice shop above all! Should have guesed they have them if anyone. :)
