Rheobus/Hardcano/etc ?

I'm thinking of purchasing a gizmo like one of these, and was wondering what experiences people have had with them? Do they work well with no problems? How many fans can you run off them? How slow/quiet do they allow you to go?

I'm also interested in people's experiences. I have a *loud* cpu fan and I'm not so interested in keeping it running at full speeds 24/7. what I am thinking about buying is a Vantec Nexus Mulitfunction front panel. Since my only really loud fan in my system will be only the CPU fan after I buy some Panaflos

, I don't see the need for the newer Vantec Nexus 201 Fan controller hub thingy. ~$60 is a bit expensive, though.
